The first picture below is the main entrance to Bryn y Neuadd, we can still see the remains of three pools ( Cam Bwwll, Pri Bwll, and Llen byd) supplied with water from the river Cambwll and some of the masonry that made the feature’s at the side of the grand lodge. and just across the road is still the grand entrance to Gorddinog the second and third pictures. These Grand Lodges show what importance there was in Aber both the Platts and Bulkeleys showed that Aber was the major village in the area, because they spent large amounts of money to make Aber look picturesque so that there visitors would have a pleasant vista as the traveled to the Grand Houses. The importance of this road is shown in that it was lit by Gas light when the gas works were added to the estate. The road way went up over the mountains thorough Rowen and on to Llanrwst. The road was made up so that you drove along the Aber road over Pont Aber and round and up past the Mill over Bont Newydd and up over the mountains, this was a better route than getting a ferry at Conwy and coach and horse over sychnant pass. The drive way to both Bryn y Neuadd and Gorddinog followed the tradition of the day by being very long so showing the wealth of the families that lived there.
