This drawing shows a map of the foundations of Pen Y Bont Glan Y Mor was further to the right pen y bont

The area known as Pen y Bont was in the field close to the river Aber and not far from the old bridge abuttment. there were two house’s there number 1 was occupied by a Mr. & Mrs. Parry their 3 month old son Richard and a male servant, Mr. Davies, Mr. Parry 33 and Mr. Davis 28 in 1851 were both employed as shoemakers, by 1871 Mr. Parry 53 had made well of himself and become the parish clerk, his son Richard had left home and he and his wife had been blessed with another son called Robert who was aged 10 by 1853 they also had had two more sons william who died 1860 and john 1868 . Mr Davis had moved and a visitor had come to stay a John Hughes aged 5. Richard had married Elizabeth and had gone to live in the Glan y Mor they had a daughter called cathrine who sadly died at the age of 17.

Living next door in No 2 in 1851 was Mr. Thomas Hughes 37, Mrs. Mary Hughs 32 and their 3 year old daughter also called Mary by 1871 Mr. Hughes was no longer at number 2 and Mrs. Hughes had become a dressmaker and head of the household, the daughter Mary was no longer at No 2, but a second daughter called Grace was helping with the dressmaking.
